Thimbles and more thimbles! At this stage, I am exploring all types of thimbles, but really, I'm looking for thimbles with a story of their own!

Thimbles, specially of unusual materials, originals, from another countries, and some special collections. I love thimbles, except whith figurines in the top, or without thimble shape.

all kinds of thimble's, i just started so right now i am collectiong everything "i can put my hands on", after that i will decide which types or period i should collect,...but it will be so hard to decide because i like them all (metal, plastic, porcelan, wood,...)

I have been collecting thimbles of all makes and materials since the late 1970s. Once thimble collecting became popular I had to limit what I bought as so many firms were making them. My main current interest is in obtaining a Thimble Collectors Society list of what thimbles were issued each month. I also enjoy collecting all the memorabilia that is associated with them.

I have started collecting the TCC thimbles (with Cert & box), but have yet to settle on any theme. I love the Limoges thimbles, and anything hand painted sparks my interest. Not interested in novelty thimbles at all. Would love to have advice to guide me a little.

Hearty 'hello' to all thimble collectors all over the world! If my love has discovered approximately 3 months ago to these small finger caps. I am fascinated from the history and material variety of these small things. To collect attempts currently by means of literature and Internet possibly a lot of information about thimbles, and, besides, have landed also on the web page from 'Thimbleselect of Australia' - remarkably this variety of information. As a collective beginner I also find the prices helpful, at on-line auctions one immediately knows how high one can offer.

I have just started to collect thimbles. I found some beautiful thimbles and from there I'm finding my thimble journey. I love reading about the history and stories about the thimble. I am concentrating on collecting thimbles of characters that were around in my childhood (1980's) as well as thimbles that are unique in design. From there I'll most likely move onto other designs in the future. I'm interested in having a pen pal for advice on collecting. Thanks :)

most kinds of thimbles. I favor hand painted thimbles and have recently began collecting the TCC thimbles. I also like silver, gold & pewter thimbles. I have mini collections of swan, cat, unicorn & butterfly thimbles.

All types. As I grew up I realised I could collect these little treasures myself. Now i look for them where ever I go. I have only about 100 but they cover many different types- glass, porcelain, silver, plastic, aluminium, pottery, leather, etc. Having read Susan Gowan's book has increased my enthusiasm for collecting.

Pretty well all types, but lately have been really getting interested in handpainted thimbles. I received my first thimble for my first Mother's Day in 1980 from my husband - so he never gets concerned when I buy more as he started me off....!!

I come from a sewing background and started collecting Singer Sewing Machines. Once my collection started to take up too much space in my sewing room I decided to downsize. So I have started collecting thimbles which I absolutly love. I am very particular about my collection and I especially like to source out very arty pieces and/or unusual thimbles. Presently only in china but I am now starting to look at silver and other metal types.

I love unusual sourced thimbles and thimbles from other countries as well as advertising thimbles and thimbles that are well made. I have approx 600 thimbles ranging from a roman thimble to todays thimbles, commerative and historical thimbles.

Whatever I fancy really, but I mainly go for Wedgwood, Spode, Coalport etc. I also collect from places I visit and my family get them for me too. I have nearly 200, not as many as some people.

Mostly antique silver thimbles,preferably Henry Griffth and Sons,Gabler and Simon Brothers. Furthermore the silver thimbles I fall in love with. I am a very picky collector.

Started collecting by accident really. I was bought one back for looking after someone's cat whilst they were away. The in a Sunday newspaper saw an advert for the Thimble Collectors Club and it started from there. Had a break when I left home and got married, but then not really wanting them to gather dust in the loft and the advent of glass door houses to display them; I have started again in the last year or so. Like all types, different types of materials they are made of; always like to purchase one on any travels I have been on, and have been very lucky in that friends, colleagues and family have often sought out ones from abroad for me. Must admit its a little addictive, but I love it. Love the web site, found out so much info.

any good quality thimbles which take my fancy. Started with Royal commemoratives, and now spread to silver (adore modern silver)and many other areas. Collection badly needs cataloguing, but must be approaching 2000 by now. Have had a sudden revival in interest in the last month or so, now totally hooked again!

Particularly Christmas, starting with Caverswall, of which I now have a complete set, but anything that is unusually attractive or just unusual! I now have over 3000 thimbles, which I am trying to catalogue and display. At present I keep them in flat cases, which means that the cases have to be opened to see them, not a very satisfactory method. Have tried wall hanging cases, but if lit ones head is between the light and the case. Would welcome any suggestions.

I also collect stamps...but I'm not as much of a fan of them as I am about thimbles. I have 218 thimbles today..and the collection is growing and growing. I began with Franklin Mint's Porcelain houses of the world. I love novelty thimbles. I've got them from our travels around Oz; from my children's and friend's trips overseas. I've got more than 300 and I've just found E-bay!
