A range of handpainted birds
A range of handpainted flowers
The holly one has a robin on the verso
A range of handpainted insects
A range of jewelled thimbles
The geometric painting is often described as "jewelled", with droplets or enamelled. The green ones on the end are rarer than the other coloured "jewels": as is the bi-coloured one!!
Occasionally there will be a gold painted apex but these are the exception - they mainly have a gilded line at the apex - a few don't.
By observation from compiling the above gallery of early handpainted Royal Worcesters, it's apparent that fruit as a subject belongs to the 20th century - and very probable that the jewelled thimbles belong exclusively to the 19th C?
If you own any of these older thimbles and know who the painter is or have the date it was painted, please let me know these details and I will transfer it to its correct place.
